Spiral Cellars for Home Wine Storage

Love Wine? I am sure you want to have your own wine cellar at your home. Take a look at the Spiral Cellar, a watertight, pre-cast cylindrical system that's sunk into the ground to build a wine cellar. It can be installed anywhere from kitchen to conservatory, workshop to study. The Spiral Cellar can keep up to 1,900 bottles in perfect storage conditions and since, like a traditional cellar, it relies on the surrounding earth for its insulation, plus an ingenious air-flow system, it requires no power to maintain its constant temperature. Take a look at the pictures.

How it works?

Monkey Urinates on President!

Animals don't care about humans. Recently, a monkey in Zambia proved it once again! According to news reports, a monkey urinated on Zambian President Rupiah Banda as he spoke to journalists at a news conference Wednesday.

But, the President took the unfortunate incident in good humor.

He softly shouted: "You (monkey) have urinated on my jacket," and paused as he looked up to see the animal playing in a tree just above his chair. "I will give this monkey for lunch to Mr Sata," he joked, referring to opposition leader Michael Sata, who Mr Banda defeated in last year's presidential elections.

Monkeys are common visitors to the president’s compound. But they never did something like this before. The president continued his speech amid laughter from the audience of journalists and diplomats.

Massive Ice Circles (14 Photos + 1 Video)

Ice Circle1

Take a look at the circle in the picture above. This is an ice circle, a rare natural phenomenon in which large discs of ice are formed in slow moving water in cold climates. And the interesting thing is that those ice circles rotate slowly in the water. That's why many UFO-enthusiasts claim that ice circles are actually signs left by visiting aliens!

Ice circles normally occur at bends in the river where the accelerating water creates a force called 'rotational shear', which breaks off a chunk of ice and twists it around. As the disc rotates, it grinds against surrounding ice and the result is a perfect circle that people call "Ice Circle". Another kind of ice circle are actually ice pans, or surface slabs of ice that form in the center of a lake or creek, instead of along the water's edge. They can be explained by quick shifts in temperature. As water cools, it releases heat that turns the water into frazil ice — a collection of loose, needle-shaped ice particles that can cluster together in an ice pan. Wikipedia

Ice circles have most frequently been observed in Scandinavia and North America, but was also recorded in Britain and Russia. Want to know more about ice circles? Take a look at the following photographs. Also in the end there is a video. Watch it!

Tilt-Shift Video of Switzerland Trains

Switzerland is country with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. To view the beauty of Switzerland from a different angle, Andi Leemann and Jeri Peier created this wonderful tilt-shift video of trains in the villages of Sisikon and Göschenen in Switzerland. Take a look.

Amazing is not it? They used two EOS 5D Mark II cameras, a Canon 90mm TS-E f/2.8 and a Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 combined with a 1.4x converter. (and polarisation filters).

Door to Hell (10 Photos+1 Video)

The Door to Hell6

Take a look at the picture above. It is from a place called the "Door to Hell", which is situated in Uzbekistan, near the small town of Darvaza (or Derweze). Why it is called "Door to Hell"? Because there is a fire continuously burning since 1971! So, locals have named the cavern The Door to Hell.

The Door to Hell1

The Derweze area is rich in natural gas. While drilling in 1971 geologists accidentally found an underground cavern filled with natural gas. The ground beneath the drilling rig collapsed, leaving a large hole with a diameter of about 50-100 meters. To avoid poisonous gas discharge, it was decided to burn the gas. As of 2009, gas from the cavern are burning uninterrupted.

Take a look at some more pictures of the "Door to Hell". Plus a video.
