On Tuesday, hundreds of glamorous women broke a World Record in Sydney, Australia. The record was for the maximum number of women running a race while wearing stilettos (at least 3 inches high heels). A total of 265 competitors, including a few men, participated in the annual stiletto race of Sydney. The previous record of 150 which was made in Holland.
Former Australian sprinter Melinda Gainsford-Taylor inspected the athletes and ensured they were wearing the mandatory three-inch heels. The participants ran around the 80m track at Sydney's Circular Quay to win a pair of gold stilettos.
Professional hurdler Brittney McGlone won the race and took home the designer gold sandals and £2,500. On the other hand, many of the competitors suffered scratches and scrapes to knees and hands as stopped in the end point.
