Dancing Dentist drilled into Patient's Eye

A woman has filed a lawsuit against her dentist, claiming that he drilled into her eye because he was disco dancing while carrying out a tooth extraction. The dentist was dancing to the song Car Wash when the drill bit he was using during an extraction punctured a woman's sinus cavity and lodged near her eye socket, according to the lawsuit.

Brandy Fanning, 31, of Syracuse in northwestern New York state, said she had to undergo emergency surgery and spent three days in the hospital because of the mishap.

She still suffers facial swelling, nerve damage and chronic infections from the bacteria that seeped into her sinus cavity, The Syracuse Post-Standard reported Friday.

Now, Fanning is seeking £288,000 ($600,000) for her medical expenses, pain and suffering in the lawsuit filed against Dr. George Trusty last month. Fanning claimed she sued Trusty because he failed on a promise to pay her medical bills.

Dr. George Trusty, 57, a dentist at Syracuse Community Health Center, declined to comment on the case. Link
