Last Round on the Underground

Around 2,000 people marked the end of drinking on the London Underground. People came out to celebrate the last night party of legitimate drinking. Revellers swigged champagne, beer, spirits and cocktails ahead of the ban which came into force at midnight.

The party, dubbed the Last Round on the Underground, was organized via social networking and other internet sites. The Underground station at Liverpool Street was closed because of overcrowding. Revellers unable to take the train staged an impromptu party on the concourse instead.

The celebrations was initially good-natured gathering. But time some people started to behave disorderly. Seven assaults were reported on Underground staff. So, police came in and made 17 arrests. Police said there were "multiple instances of trains being damaged".
