Final Collection of Valentino

Yesterday was a memorable day in the Paris Fashion Week. Valentino, the legendary Roman Fashion Designer, presented his final ready-to-wear collection in Paris, yesterday. The Valentino spring/summer 2008 collection featured pretty dresses with charming signatures. Valentino will present his final haute couture collection in January, next year.

Last month, Valentino announced his retirement from fashion, following the acquisition of the Valentino Group by the private equity fund Permira, and said he wanted to leave when the “party was still going strong”.

Yesterday's show was full of all the familiar and charming Valentino signatures that have earned him a devoted worldwide following over five decades: the bows, the ruffles, the polka-dots and the faultless tailoring. He opened the show with a group of pretty dresses in pink and then moved on to the trademark day-suits, in beige, cream and navy.

Valentino is the only man, who always had a mission: to make women beautiful. Now, he intends now to prepare for a 'Valentino Museum'. via Telegraph
