Desk of Charles Dickens fetched $850,000


Take a look at the mahogany desk. This is not an ordinary wooden desk. It's worth is $850,000. Can you believe this? Actually this is a special desk, because famous writer Charles Dickens used it to write "Great Expectations" and his final works. Last month, this desk was auctioned at Christie's and it fetched $850,000 (or £433,250).

The mahogany desk and chair from the study of Dickens' Gad's Hill residence near Rochester, Kent, was passed on by descent to Christopher Charles Dickens and his wife Jeanne-Marie Dickens. via Reuters.
