Tao Xiangli, a Chinese man have completed the construction a 1.6 tonnes submarine at home, by using metal barrels and improvised parts. A submarine built at home? Take a look at the picture above. I think, this is the first home-made submarine in the World.
The 20ft long submarine can accomodate one person inside and features all the basic tools found in a submarine - pressure metres, monitoring cameras, TV set, oxygen supply system and headlights. Tao believes that the submarine can safely dive to a maximum depth of 10 meters.
The home-made submarine is now in the final phase of testing the £2,200 submarine and Tao hopes that it will make its maiden voyage within the next week in Beijing. Interestingly, Tao has only an elementary school education and already owns 17 different patents.
