The 34-year-old Robertson got into trouble when the twin-engine plane began to lose power shortly after taking off from Fort Lauderdale, en route for the Bahamas, on Friday. His five-ton 1964 Super Twin Beech 18 clipped the side of a building before it dropped on to Florida's Interstate 93 and slid on to a grassed embankment.
No one was killed in this crash, but Mr Robertson was taken to hospital with severe head, arm and leg injuries after he was cut from the mangled wreckage. He was in a critical condition following emergency surgery. Link
